Damir Modrušan is born in Pula in 1970. He finished the Catering school in Pula, chef department. After graduating in 1989. he started working in Arenaturist - leading catering company in Pula in that period. In 1993 he went to Italy and worked as a second chef in hotel Top-residence at Passo Tonale.


After the winter season he went to the Folgarida, the place near to the world famous ski resort Madonna di Camiglio and worked as first chef at the Hotel Gran Baita. In 1995. he returned to his hometown and began working in the restaurant, Bodulka in Šišan near Pula, which was among the best restaurants in Croatia in that period. The next year he took the place of main chef at the famous hotel Valssabbion.


Here he came to the rise in Croatian gastronomy and he was fortunate enough to cook together with world celebrities such as Sting, Naomi Campbell, Julio Iglesias, Romano Prodi, Joe Cocker, Anastasia and many others ... In 2002 he went to the Restaurant Zigante in place of chef and for the first time he leaded independently kitchen in which all the creations of dishes on the plate were his ideas. With Restaurant Zigante he comes to top restaurants in Croatia, which becomes famous in neighboring countries. The selection of fresh food that Damir uses in his kitchen always varies.


Following truffle seasons, and seasonal ingredients, he creates menu that gets the full experience when match with wines. Modesty and knowledge led Damir to the head of the Formula One, man who had heard about him and invited him on his yacht to be his and his family personal cook. Bernie Ecclestone and Niki Lauda enjoyed the delicacies that Damir prepared with truffles. For years, he is perfecting with  the dishes with truffles and he goes to education in Belgium, Italy and France.
