When talking about autochthonous Istrian grape varieties, Malvasia Istriana is definitely the most popular one and a sort of trademark of this winemaking region. Carefully cultivated for centuries it is mostly used in the production of high-quality Malvasia wines, as well as different coupages, and it holds a special place in the hearts and minds of local wine enthusiasts.

Here at Zigante’s we cultivate Malvasia variety on the western hillsides of the Istrian wine district, on the position of Kostanjica to be exact, where the microclimate is more than favorable for growing vines. After the harvest, the grapes are carefully processed in our modern winery and used to produce Malvasia Istriana Zigante, a wine that’s been captivating the senses of wine-lovers for years now.

Malvasia from Zigante cellars is characterized by the yellowish green color, pleasant aromas, conspicuous floral and fruity notes, moderate acids and a pleasant, somewhat mineral and refreshing aftertaste – all of which makes it perfect for hot summer days.
